The Value of Making Socks in Latvia

Why we keep our production close to home

Most socks travel a long way before they reach a shop.

Ours don't.

We make our socks in Latvia because we believe there is value in keeping production close to the people and places behind the product.

Our socks are knitted in Latvia using yarn from Germany. Keeping production nearby gives us a closer relationship with the people making our products and makes it easier to stay involved in how the socks are made.

Made here, not just designed here

There is a difference between putting your name on a product and being involved in making it.

We work with a Latvian manufacturer that turns the yarn into the socks you see on our site. From the knit and pattern to the cuff, heel and toe, the details are part of the finished product — not something added afterwards.

It also means we can keep a closer eye on the product itself and work directly with the people who make it.

That's important to us.

Why Latvia?

Because Latvia is home.

We are a Baltic brand, and we want that to mean something beyond the name.

The Baltic region has a long tradition of textiles, knitting and practical clothing made for real weather. We don't need to turn that into a grand story. We simply want to keep some of that connection alive while making socks that fit modern everyday life.

Our socks are designed for the same kind of conditions we know ourselves:

cold mornings, wet trails, changing temperatures and the occasional four seasons in one day.

A closer relationship with production

Producing locally doesn't make every part of the process simple. But it does give us something valuable: proximity.

We can communicate directly with our manufacturing partner, discuss changes and stay closer to the product as it develops.

For a small brand, that matters.

We're not trying to make the most socks possible.

We're trying to make good socks and keep getting better at them.

From Germany to Latvia

Our merino yarn comes from Germany.

It then travels to Latvia, where it is knitted into the finished sock.

That makes the journey part of the product story too: German yarn, Latvian knitting, Baltic design.

The final product is made here, close to home, by people who know how to make socks.

Why it matters when you buy Baltland

When you buy a pair of Baltland socks, you're not buying a product that simply happens to carry a Baltic name.

You're buying socks that are knitted in Latvia.

That's something we're proud of.

Not because local production automatically makes something better.

But because being closer to the people making our products helps us stay involved, stay accountable and keep improving.

We make socks. Good ones. In Latvia.
